i went to scope out cake ordering for Kai's upcoming 1st birthday at Fumie's Gold.

we got there late in the day so i was SURE there would be no pastries left...

i was wrong! i bought a tiramisu and it's a party in my mouth right now!

we went to Showa Izakaya in Wallingford/Fremont.

o, and i went to pick out some yummy Japanese (slices of) cakes to celebrate!

Kai came along and helped me pick!

it's been close to a year since i've enjoyed one.

i didn't drink a whole lot since i'm still breast feeding but i got a light buzz pretty quick.

erika bought me sushi dinner--also been about a year since i've had sushi!

and birthday ice cream!

if you look closely, you can see my cheeks are red from the little bit of beer...

hahaha!

fumie's (melting pot of) gold cake...!

so there's a pretty popular japanese cake shop in downtown bellevue called "Fumie's gold"♥
AND it's famous for being this super teeny tiny shop with very limited selection AND constantly selling out! well well, jamus and i finally decided to go one Sunday RIGHT when it opened!
it opened at 1pm...we got there probably around 1:40.
2 (annoying) japanese ladies were in front of us and seriously almost bought out the whole store!
i was so worried i wouldn't get any cake for myself!

but i did♥ i got a strawberry shortcake (mmm one of my faves!)
and a couple chocolate cakes!

o, did i mention it was 80+ degress on this day??? by the time we got home... my precious cakes melted!!
and it did not look pretty. i was pretty sad.. still tasted good but still sad... (￣^￣)ゞ
i'll have to go back for some revenge cake!

mother's day with cake..!

luckily there's a french bakery in silverlake (delicious cake by the way) and luckily we got our hands on their LAST cake...! phew!
i think it's called a chocolate ganache cake..?
filled with dark chocolate...YUM!

erika's bday partay part 1....!

we celebrated erika's upcoming 24th birthday at the rents last sunday
here's ma's specialty...delicious delicious DELICIOUS homemade cake♥
we like to use real whipped cream rather than frosting/icing (ugh..hate that stuff) on our cakes.
it's more common in japan.
i think she did a great job!

at first, erika and i desperately wanted to get him some cake from "fumie's gold" cake shop in bellevue..(brand new, just opened, highly praised, supposed to be amazing!)

jamus and i tried the shop about a month ago and...it was so dang popular, all the cake sold out...

well... once again, no luck with scoring fumie's cake... :(

sold out by noon! there was a line! YARR!!

looks like i'm gonna have to deal with NOT sleeping in on a weekend in order to get some of fumie's cake :(

but we had back-up plans♥ Hiroki's bakery in wallingford. also owned by a japanese baker, also amazing-delicious cake!

here's what we got:

(after tasting all the cake) this one was by far the best! this was pa's special cake♥

this one was fun to look at :) erika is amazed by it's presence alone!

we also got to enjoy some shuumai, hand made by ma!

wow...it was way too good..i downed about 6 of these!

mmmm...i went to seattle's "chocolate box" to get james a bday cake ♥ just a cute tiny cake :)

here it is ! i forgot what it was called... it's really small...hard to tell in the pics but they're smaller than the palm of your hand...it's super delicious but MEGA-sweet ! the 2 of us couldn't even finish one of these.... we'll savor it ♥

i've gone cake crazy...!!

on sunday...(whilst everyone went to gameworks for ANOTHER street fighter tournament...) i went solo to greenlake/seattle to visit "hiroki" the japanese cake store <3

it was located in this cutesy neighborhood and i had no problem finding it. it was a tiny cafe with a rather small selection of cakes...BUT they had tiramisu ^_^ a bit pricey too i might add... 4 slices came to 25 bucks ! O_o pictured is the tiramisu, choco-banana and chestnut (chestnut?? hmm..interesting...) the dude who helped me out was this odd character...he was japanese, middle aged...long hair..chunky...tattoo-ed all up his arms...and sporting a floral apron... HAHA!!!! it was funny :) he actually cautioned me to keep the cakes refrigerated so i kinda freaked out and drove it up to my parents... i wanted to bring back the tiramisu for james but since it was sunny i guess it might've melted away :( i'll have to get some again

i gotta say tho..it's a hard to decide which tiramisu was better--the pegasus or hiroki...

my new favorite restaurant is pegasus in kirkland...and we haven't been there in a while...
i LOVE LOVE their caprise salad ★ and even better is...their TIRAMISU <3>
i haven't had a whole lot of tiramisu experience with restaurants but this one is by far the best..the best ya'll! mmmm...

erika and i (well..mostly erika) baked a last-minute cake tonight to fulfill our cake-craving★ we both had a sweet tooth today. old school japanese style ^_^ it says ケーキ食べたい...aka... i want to eat cake... hahahaha ! it was delish and i'm having some more tomorrow!
